Priest Busted Dealing Cocaine

By Fennster • Sep 12th, 2008 • Category: Features

Reverend Christopher Layden

A Catholic priest on the University of Illinois campus has been charged with selling cocaine from his church office and rectory.

The Reverend Christopher Layden pleaded not guilty Thursday to two counts of delivery of less than 1 gram of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church and one count of possession with intent to deliver 1 to 15 grams of cocaine near a church.

The 33-year-old was arrested Wednesday at St. John’s Catholic Newman Center after investigators found 3 grams of cocaine and drug paraphernalia while searching his home and office. His bond was set at $50,000.

The Catholic Diocese of Peoria says it has suspended Layden.

I wonder if he is going to use the excuse that it’s natural and God wouldn’t have made it if we can’t use it? First off you’re a man of the church and you’re dealing coke in your church, which not only is a church but is on a college campus. Way to go you with the “Jesus Dandruff”!!! I guess you picked the right drug to be selling, you should have no problem posting bail!

All we know about Dr. Rockzo is that he is a rock n’ roll clown, and he does cocaine.

  4. “HOLY SHIT” haha

    weird.

  5. now people know what all those sniffling sounds were coming from the confession box

  6. *scratches neck* Where’s that church again?

  7. It was only three grams. Sheesh. Totally personal use.

  8. Agreed, three grams is nothing. If he had an ounce (28g) or more, he might be considered some kind of dealer. I used to be in the cocaine industry a few years back and delivery of ONE gram, even up to FIFTEEN grams is nowhere near the amount of dope you would need to sell to make a $50,000 bond!!! This guy is in some serious trouble.

  9. I focused on the ‘near a church’ part of those charges.
Have we now given extra liability to people who walk near a place of worship?

  10. Frank…. dr rockso!

  11. Haha! Cocaine is man made. Are charges more when dealing near a church? He should have asked the church for a raise rather than sellin’ dope….idiots today.

  12. dealing withing 1000 yrds of a school is also considered an added charge…..but the guy was a fucking priest……where are the little boys he was supplying it to?

  13. This video was banned from Music Television because you could see my junk through my jumpsuit! K-k-k-yeah! I do cocaine!

    Ahahahaha Rockzo.

    Aaanyway, this is hilarious.

  14. confession crackers and cocaine my my….

maybe the church is trying to get a piece of Wall Street.

  15. *seriously… a LOT of cocaine*

  16. cocaine and more cocaine… everybody is doing it! for just a temp with a fall…

  17. Same denominations that allows child porn. These guys are great.

  18. three dudes go into a bar …a priest , a pedophile ,and a homosexual——thats just the first guy !!!! i’m thinking like peter what difference does it make being 1000ft from a church? I understand to close to a school but members of “churches” are already corrupt with there hollier than thou atitudes .GUESS HE SHOULDV’E PAID HIS TYTHE TO THE CHURCH OR THE COPS !!!!!

  19. Lighten up people! The guy was only trying to raise money for his hair plugs!!

  20. HAHAAA! Hair plugs!

  21. “two counts of delivery of less than 1 gram of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church and one count of possession with intent to deliver 1 to 15 grams of cocaine near a church”
Why are these specifically-identified crimes? What makes a church so special under the law’s eyes?

  22. I’m thinking that the law enforcement treats a church much like a school in where its a greater offense then if he wasn’t near any of these two items.

  23. [...] interesting thing had happened last week.  Someone had stumbled the article Priest busted dealing cocaine and it turned into a 48 hour [...]

  24. In my opinion, all drugs including cocaine should be completely legal. Before world war one, a 9 year old could walk into a store and buy cocaine and heroin. There were no drug problems back then. If someone did happen to get addicted to one of the drugs, then they could have gone to a doctor for help with their addiction. Last time I checked, a lot of medicine out there today is addictive and dangerous. So what exactly is the difference? There is none. America just flat out sucks. One of the worst countries on the planet no doubt. Lincoln said this country was for the people. If that’s true then why does the government lie to us about what’s really dangerous? Telling kids that marijuana is just as bad as crystal meth is not a good idea.

  25. “… Less than 1 gram of cocaine within 1,000 feet of a church.”

This raises three questions. First, what constitutes a “church?” Say you had an illicit drug dealer within 1000 feet of your home (heck, that’s virtually everyone at one time or another). You could just put a sign up on your door saying “Joe’s Church.” Does that increase the dealer’s penalties? Second, any religion is infinitely more destructive than any drug; just check your history book. Third, less than a gram???
